AWARD: 2020 Biodesign Challenge Entry
Project Name: ThermoSilk
BioD and Decal members: TAMARA JAFAR, AARON KIRBY, MICHELLE TEMBY, TIA LAMORE, XAVIER BALLADAREZ, RADHIKA MARDIKAR
The UC Berkeley Biodesign Decal class entered a team project in the 2020 Biodesign Challenge and earned “Finalist Team” and “Top 6 Team.” The project proposes a thermoelectric emergency shelter made from synthetic hornet silk, which has insulatory, thermoelectric, and photovoltaic properties that can be used to power the structure.
