The platypus remains one of the strangest mammals alive with its electricity-sensing bill and venomous heel spurs. However, researchers have yet discovered another odd feature of this creature; their fur fluoresces under ultraviolet light. The purpose of this ability is not well-known, whether it aids in fending off predators or is simply an evolutionary trait. There are other animals that share this same peculiar quality as well. Further research is needed, and researchers are excited to tackle it.
