The Venus flytrap traps its prey using modified leaves. This process is triggered by electrical signals (action potentials), causing the closure of its leaf lobes. It has been found that these electrical signals generate measurable magnetic fields and can be recorded with atomic magnetometers. The article describes how these magnetic fields were confirmed and how biomagnetism has been quite well-documented in animals and humans, but not in plants.
