Global Bio-Inspired Design Challenge 2021
The Global Design Challenge challenges participants to tackle some of the most pressing that the world faces using nature/bio-inspired innovation. These challenges are derived from the UN Sustainable Development goals, which include reaching no poverty, reduced inequality, and clean and potable water for all. The competition encourages thoughtful bio-design with the following principles: Emulate, Ethos, and (Re)connect. First, you emulate nature, then you ask whether the thing you’re designing should be placed in the environment and is safe. Finally, participants are asked to connect innovation to nature. Biomimicry is a huge part of innovation and this competition attempts to foster bio-inspired innovation to create novel and sustainable innovations that help lead the world toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
