The Wyss Institute integrates biological design principles in develop new engineering innovations in the field of medicine and and for improving sustainability. An intern will work with a team of scientists, engineers and clinicians, from Harvard’s Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Arts & Sciences, Design, and Education as well as 12 collaborating academic institutions and hospitals. Interns will also be exposed to industrial product development to engineer transformative solutions to some of the world’s greatest problems.

Requirements:
– Pursuing a BS, MS or PhD degree in biology, chemistry, or closely related major
Able to work with minimal supervision
– Detail oriented
– Interest in solving problems
– An interest in biological applications
– Should be open-minded, creative, energetic and bring expertise and experimental background in at least one of the fields of cell and developmental biology, computational or systems biology, microfluidics, microfabrication, bioengineering or systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications:
– Students with applicable majors that would include: Biology (biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, entomology, microbiology, molecular biology); Chemistry (analytical, organic or physical); Engineering (agricultural, biological, or chemical); and/or Informatics (bioinformatics or chemical)
– Interns that have past practical experience in handling chemicals, operating laboratory equipment, generating and manipulating data applications
