The goal of this project is to tackle the issue of Velcro hooks and other adhesives damaging fabrics because of the residue they leave or the stiffness of its features. Rather than using hooks as inspired by Burdock, they are attempting to use a miniscule mushroom shaped caps to interlock with the material it is placed against. Additionally, the cap is tested to catch less lint and material when dethatched. The study found that the density and placement of caps determined how efficiently the material could be detached and reattached. There is no specific intended function for the material yet, and they hope to further experiment in order to understand which placements work best for varying types of adhesives.
