Paper, Pilot assessment of cyanotoxins as potential risk factors for cancer in Bulgaria
The article discusses new discoveries of cancer causing bacteria originating in some algae species which produce certain cyanotoxins. Due to increased pollution and toxins produced from manufacturing, more toxic algae has begun to grow in Bulgaria’s bodies of water. This includes some water reservoirs that store Bulgaria’s drinking water. Thus, since cyanotoxins were found in such bodies of water that are known to grow various types of algae, it can be suspected that higher cancer rates among Bulgarian citizens has resulted from pollution toxins getting into the ecosystem.
