Paper, Air-encapsulating mechanism of dandelion seeds
Recently, researchers at University of Trento have succeeded in quantifying the “air-encapsulating, elastic mechanism” of dandelion seeds, or blowballs, when submerged underwater. Although these seeds are not meant to be underwater or operate in an aquatic environment, the scientists believe that its behaviors underwater can be beneficial for potential bioinspired devices.
